The life of Christ, from his conception through to his death upon the cross and ultimate resurrection, is emblematic of the individuation process as described by C. G. Jung.
Christ’s life begins with the annunciation, where the archangel Gabriel tells Mary that she will be made pregnant with God. The ensuing child, Jesus Christ, was considered to be the divine incarnate – a king of kings. Yet his fate was to be sacrificed upon the cross.
In the deeper stages of the individuation process, we also encounter the greater Self, and reexperience the life of Christ.
In this session, we will explore the archetypal dimension of Western culture’s central myth.
